As per reports, amidst heavy snowfall, hundreds of vehicles remained stranded on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway between the Pir Panjal tunnel and Srinagar city on Saturday morning (28 December).

Snow clearance machines are being used in Kulgam and Anantnag districts to clear the stranded vehicles on the national highway. All roads in Srinagar city and other districts including Budgam, Ganderbal, Bandipora, Baramulla, Kupwara, Pulwama, Anantnag, Kulgam and Shopian were blocked.

• Power supply disruptions, except in some parts of Srinagar city, have been reported as well.
• Officials on Saturday (28 December) stated that six people stranded amid heavy snowfall on the Mughal Road in Poonch district were rescued by the police. This comes after two vehicles going from Shopian to Surankote got stuck in the snow at Chattapani.
• Both arrivals and departures at the Srinagar International Airport have been put on standby, with officials set to decide on resuming operations, depending on weather improvements.
• Train services on the Banihal-Baramulla section have been suspended. Efforts are underway to clear the tracks.
