As per reports, British Columbia’s River Forecast Centre has issued a High Streamflow Advisory for the South Coast, covering Howe Sound, the Sea to Sky region, Pemberton, and the North Shore mountains on Friday (15 August).

• A rainfall warning remains in effect, with up to 80 millimetres of rainfall expected in higher elevations, including parts of Metro Vancouver, the Lower Sunshine Coast, and Howe Sound. The heaviest rainfall is expected during Friday’s (15 August) afternoon commute.
• The Shipyards Night Market in North Vancouver has been cancelled for Friday (15 August) evening due to safety concerns. Rivers in affected regions, especially glacial-fed rivers such as the Squamish River, are expected to rise rapidly from Friday (15 August) into early Saturday (16 August) due to a combination of heavy rainfall and glacial melt from warm weather.
• The River Forecast Centre has warned of potential washouts, hazards for recreation near rivers, and significantly increased flow rates. Environment and Climate Change Canada has also cautioned about reduced visibility, water pooling on roads, and hydroplaning risks during heavy rainfall.
• Rain is expected to reduce late Friday (15 August) evening on the Sunshine Coast and after 0000 hours (local time) on Saturday (16 August) in eastern Metro Vancouver.
