According to reports, heavy rainfall in different parts of Gujarat has resulted in flood-like situations as on Tuesday (17 June). Botad, Amreli, Surendranagar and Bhavnagar have received the most rainfall and 18 casualties have been recorded so far.

• Authorities confirmed that 40 people were evacuated to safer areas from Barvala taluka, Botad as a precautionary step to ensure their safety incase a nearby dam overflowed.
• District Magistrate (DM) Jincy Roy has stated that a red alert has been issued in Botad till Wednesday morning (18 June). A National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team has been moved here as well in the Pipariya village, where the rescue operations are underway. Around 20 people were stranded there, of whom four have yet to be rescued.
• Another NDRF team is on its way to Lathidad, where a car was swept away on Monday night (16 June). There were nine people in the car, and two have been rescued. Two bodies were retrieved on Tuesday (17 June) and five people are still missing.
• As reports of increasing water levels are coming from Pipariya, seven to eight families are being shifted from there as well.
• The gates of the Khambhada Dam in Botad district were opened on Tuesday (17 June) as well due to a significant rise in water levels. Gadgda Road near the Botad Circle has been closed along with the flooding of urban and rural areas in Gadhada, prompting extensive rescue operations and the relocation of residents and their farm animals to safety.
• Meanwhile, an order issued by the District Education Officer stated that all the government as well as private schools in Botad district will remain shut on Wednesday (18 June) given the present situation.
• In a separate incident, 12 individuals were stranded in a village in Gadhada taluka due to flooding. Rescue efforts are currently underway.
• The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert for extremely heavy rainfall, thunderstorm, lightning, squall and strong surface winds for Botad on Tuesday (17 June). • The nowcast section has issued an orange warning for moderate rainfall (05-15 mm/hr) with moderate thunderstorms and maximum surface wind speeds between 41-61 kmph till 0100 hours on Wednesday (18 June).
