Heavy rainfall and flood alert issued in parts of Dominican Republic on Friday (10 April)

As per reports, continuous moderate to heavy rainfall has prompted authorities to maintain flood alerts across 17 provinces in the Dominican Republic as of Friday (10 April).

• The Emergency Operations Center (COE) reported that over 1000 homes have been affected and approximately 5120 people displaced due to flooding and related incidents.
• Reports also indicate disruptions to healthcare services and public infrastructure, with the Ministry of Education (MINERD) maintaining precautionary measures in affected areas.
• Adverse weather conditions and localized flooding are ongoing, with additional rainfall expected in the coming hours, increasing the likelihood of further flooding and landslides.
• Affected provinces include Santo Domingo, Distrito Nacional, Santiago, La Vega, Monseñor Nouel, Duarte, Sánchez Ramírez, María Trinidad Sánchez, San Cristóbal, San Pedro de Macorís, La Romana, El Seibo, Hato Mayor, Monte Plata, Espaillat, Hermanas Mirabal, and Samaná.
