According to MetService, a frontal system over the north Tasman Sea is expected to move over northern New Zealand on Monday and early Tuesday (15-16 July). A period of heavy rain is expected in the north of the North Island, and about the western Tasman District. Warnings and Watches are in force;
• An orange heavy rain warning is in place for Coromandel Peninsula (expect 70 to 100 mm of rain, with possible thunderstorms this afternoon) and Bay of Plenty west of Kawerau (expect 80 to 110 mm of rain inland, and 50 to 80 mm of rain about the coast).
• A yellow heavy rain warning is in place for Northland, Auckland about and north of Whangaparaoa Peninsula, Bay of Plenty about and east of Kawerau and Gisborne/Tairawhiti north of Ruatoria and Tasman District about and west of Motueka. • A strong wind warning was also in place on the Auckland Harbour Bridge until approximately 1300 hours with lanes to remain in 4×4 formation until after it was lifted. MetService has placed a heavy rain watch on the Auckland region which is expected to end at 1600 hours on Monday (15 July).
