As per reports, the Hanoi Centre for Disease Control has increased health screening measures for all flights arriving from African transit hubs at Nội Bài International Airport in Hanoi, in view of the risks of an unidentified disease that killed at least 149 in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) as of Tuesday (17 December).
• The Vietnamese Health Ministry also tasked the Department of Preventive Medicine with monitoring the situation, coordinating with the World Health Organization (WHO), and assessing risks to propose appropriate response measures, including strengthened health quarantine procedures as of Tuesday (17 December).
• Moreover on Tuesday (17 December), the Health Ministry of the Democratic Republic of Congo officially identified the previously ‘unknown disease’ as malaria.
