As per reports, a 24-hour general strike is taking place on Thursday (10 April) from 0000 hours (local time) to 2359 hours (local time), across Argentina.

• The strike is organized by the General Confederation of Labour (CGT) and supported by both Argentine Workers’ Confederations (CTAs).
• It is held in protest against the economic policies and wage ceilings implemented by the national government under President Javier Milei.
• Although the Union of Motor Tram Workers (UTA) is not participating due to a mandatory conciliation order issued by the Ministry of Labour, multiple essential services are affected in the metropolitan areas of Posadas, Garupá, and Candelaria, located in the province of Misiones.
• The strike has caused a noticeable decrease in bus frequencies within the urban transport network of these cities, despite buses being expected to operate normally. International rail services, particularly the train line connecting Posadas with Encarnación, are completely suspended for the day.
• Flight services are reduced to 45 percent capacity, affecting both domestic and international air travel.
• The banking sector will also be significantly impacted, with all branches of public and private banks closed and only online transactions available. In the education sector, activities are suspended in schools and universities.
• Healthcare services are affected as well, with hospitals operating at limited capacity due to the involvement of UPCN and ATE unions. Gas stations are attempting to offer partial service to the public, though disruptions are expected.
• Retail businesses and restaurants are operating at reduced capacity as local unions have joined the strike. Additionally, port unions are participating, which has resulted in the suspension of port activities, disrupting both domestic logistics and foreign trade operations.
• The strike and the accompanying march to Congress aim to express labour sector discontent with the current national economic measures.
