As per reports, a high wind warning is in effect for the Denver International Airport (DIA) and surrounding areas, causing significant disruptions to air travel. Over 100 flights have been delayed as of Monday (30 December), due to winds with gusts up to 60 miles per hour.
• As of 1010 hours local time, 138 flights were delayed, with four cancellations. The majority of delays are reported with Southwest (53), United (38), and SkyWest (14) airlines.
• DIA is experiencing strong northwest winds with gusts up to 39 miles per hour. These weather conditions are expected to impact travel, especially for those returning home after the holiday period.
• The busiest travel times at the airport will be between 0800 hours local time and 1600 hours local time, with peak security hours from 0600 hours local time to noon and 1500 hours local time 1800 hours local time.
• Winds are expected to taper off by the evening, with conditions improving by New Year’s Eve.
