As per reports, at approximately 0430 hours (local time) on Tuesday (04 February), a powerful explosion occurred at a snack bar located on Ahrensburger Strasse in Wandsbek, Hamburg.
• The explosion caused significant structural damage to the four-story apartment building housing the snack bar. The Hamburg Fire Department responded promptly, rescuing 30 individuals from the premises, who have been safely accommodated elsewhere. No injuries have been reported.
• The Hamburg Police Situation Service has confirmed that the cause of the explosion remains undetermined and is currently under investigation. A structural engineer is assessing the extent of the building damage to ensure structural stability. The building contains multiple gas connections, which have been shut off as a precautionary measure to prevent further incidents.
• Emergency services remain present at the scene to manage safety operations. As a result, Ahrensburger Strasse is completely closed to traffic until further notice.
