According to reports, residents of Bhanga Upazila in Faridpur have announced an indefinite strike starting Sunday (14 September) morning, in protest against the Election Commission’s decision to reassign the Algi and Hamirdi unions from the Faridpur-4 constituency to Faridpur-2.

According to the Bhanga Upazila All-Party Combined Committee, road and rail communication in the upazila will remain suspended from 0600 hours till 1300 hours on Saturday (13 September). However, the committee has warned that if the Election Commission does not reverse its decision by Saturday (13 September) evening, continuous blockades will commence from Sunday (14 September) morning.
