As per reports, on Thursday (02 October), President Daniel Noboa announced the extension of Ecuador’s national holiday on Thursday (09 October), which commemorates the Independence of Guayaquil, through Executive Decree 172.
• The holiday is now expected to span four days, from Thursday (09 October), to 12 October, applying to both public and private sectors.
• The government cited the extension as a measure to promote domestic tourism and stimulate the national economy. During the holiday period, operations of basic and strategic services, including health, fire, land, air, and river terminals, banking, and other essential sectors is expected to continue to function.
