As per reports, heavy rainfall in Western Australia has led to severe flooding in Goldfields, Eucla, and south interior districts, resulting in the closure of key transportation routes between South Australia (SA) and Western Australia (WA) and inundation of local regional roads and residential areas.

Both the Eyre Highway and the Trans-Australian Railway line, including the Indian Pacific passenger train service, have been shut down due to inundation. The closure is expected to persist until later in the week.

• The Bureau of Meteorology forecasts additional heavy rainfall of up to 150 millimetres (mm) for affected areas until Wednesday (13 March).
