As per reports, the Delhi government has announced a comprehensive ban on the production, storage, sale, and use of all firecrackers in the national capital until 01 January 2025 to mitigate winter air pollution.
Environment Minister Gopal Rai stated that the ban is part of a broader 21-point Winter Action Plan, focusing on key areas, including various pollution control campaigns. He mentioned that the plan will be developed in collaboration with the Delhi Police, Delhi Pollution Control Committee, and the Revenue Department to ensure strict enforcement. Minister Rai further directed all departments to submit detailed action plans and suggestions under the Winter Action Plan to the Environment Department by 12 September. He also noted that drones will be deployed for real-time air quality monitoring at pollution hotspots.
