Clashes prompt force majeure declaration at Zawiya oil refinery on Sunday (15 December)

As per reports, armed clashes occurred around the Zawiya oil refinery in western Libya, prompting the National Oil Corporation (NOC) to declare force majeure and a state of emergency on Sunday (15 December). A major coastal road linking Zawiya to other cities in western Libya was also closed.

The NOC also called for immediate intervention by the interim Government of National Unity, to halt the clashes and protect the oil infrastructure from further damage.
