As per reports, the Chamoli-Badrinath National Highway in Uttarakhand was blocked on Sunday (07 July) after boulders slid down onto the road post heavy rainfall in the region.

• According to IMD’s nowcast section, a yellow alert for the possibility of moderate rainfall/intense spell at isolated places is forecast for Chamoli, Pauri Garhwal, Haridwar, Dehradun, Tehri Garhwal, Uttarkashi and Rudraprayag.
• An orange alert for possibility for intense to very intense spells at isolated places is forecast for Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, Almora, Nainital, Champawat and Udham Singh Nagar.
• Additionally, the Uttarakhand government has also temporarily halted the Char Dham Yatra for Sunday and Monday (07-08 July), citing a heavy rainfall warning issued by the Meteorological Department for the next 48 hours. Pilgrims have been requested not to proceed beyond Rishikesh on Sunday (07 July) and to stay at their current locations until the weather improves.
• The IMD also previously issued a press release issuing a red alert for isolated extremely heavy rainfall over Uttarakhand on Sunday (07 July). Moderate to high risk of flash floods was also forecast over few watersheds and neighbourhoods of Uttarakhand till late Sunday morning (07 July).
