As per reports, heavy rains have resulted in the temporary halting of shinkansen bullet train services from Hakata in Fukuoka to Tokyo on Saturday (02 November) since the morning.
The Japan Meteorological Agency has stated that atmospheric conditions are likely to be unstable in the west on Saturday and in the east the following day, warning of the risk of landslides, overflowing rivers, lightning strikes and tornadoes.
• In some parts of western Japan, 300 millimeters of rain had been recorded in the 24 hours through Saturday morning (02 November).
• Rainfall in the 24 hours through 0600 hours on Sunday (03 November) is expected to reach up to 200 mm in the Shikoku region in the west, 180 mm in the Tokai region in central Japan and 120 mm in the Kanto-Koshin region in the east that includes Tokyo.
