According to reports, a portion of a four-storey residential building collapsed in the Karpewadi area of Kalyan East in Thane district on Tuesday afternoon (20 May), trapping at least six individuals under the debris. The incident took place in the Saptashrungi building, with the interior slab from the second floor to the ground floor reportedly giving way.

Rescue operations were promptly launched by the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) and local fire services. Four people have been rescued and are undergoing treatment, while two others are believed to still be trapped. One fatality has been confirmed as of the latest update.
