As per reports, the City of Port Arthur, Texas, has issued a boil water notice citing a turbidity limit on Wednesday (22 January).

• The City of Port Arthur reportedly failed to meet the minimum treatment technique requirements for the month of January 2025.
• In a news release from the city, they stated turbidity by itself has no health effects. However, turbidity can interfere with disinfection and provide a medium for microbial growth. The presence of turbidity in the water can be an indication of the presence of disease causing organisms. These organisms include bacteria, viruses, and parasites that can cause symptoms such as nausea, cramps, diarrhea, and associated headaches.
• Due to the nature and severity of this violation, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) have required the city of Port Arthur to issue this public notice.
