As per reports, Greater Chennai Police denied the permission to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to stage a protest against former chairman of Indian Overseas Congress Sam Pitroda. The protest was scheduled to take place at 1700 hours at Valluvar Kottam on Monday (13 May), and party members began assembling at the venue at 1600 hours.
Several party members were detained by the police as the procession was previously denied permission. However, the BJP has stated that they would further approach the High Court for permission.
