As per reports, activists of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress staged separate protests at the office of Kannur District Police Chief R. Ajith Kumar, on Monday (October 28), demanding action against former district panchayat president P.P. Divya, accused in the death of Additional District Magistrate (ADM) K. Naveen Babu. Both parties questioned the integrity of the investigation, demanded accountability, and pledged to continue their protests until a transparent investigation is ensured.
• The BJP-led march, attended by hundreds, called for Divya’s immediate arrest and a judicial inquiry, facing resistance as police deployed barricades and water cannons, resulting in minor injuries.
• Meanwhile, the Kannur Block Congress Committee organised a symbolic ‘Olachut’ demonstration, alleging “police bias” in the case.
