As per reports, on Monday (03 November), the Austrian Ministry of Health is scheduled to designate the entire country of Austria as an area of increased risk for bird flu (avian influenza).
• As of Thursday (30 October), no cases have been reported in the federal state of Salzburg, but since wild-bird infections have been detected in other states, the measure is being applied nationally.
• Wild birds in the states of Lower Austria and Carinthia have already tested positive for avian influenza, prompting the broad precaution.
• Poultry owners, including both commercial farms and hobby holdings, are expected to be required to follow enhanced biosecurity rules.
