As per reports, a new protest is being organized by the nationalist Vazrazhdane party on Wednesday (04 June), coinciding with the expected announcement of the European Commission’s convergence report on Bulgaria’s readiness to adopt the euro.

• The protest is expected to draw a significant turnout and has been timed to coincide with key European Union (EU) officials’ presence at the National Assembly.
• The party’s leader, Kostadin Kostadinov, has called on citizens opposed to the introduction of the euro to assemble at 0830 hours (local time) on Wednesday (04 June) in front of the National Assembly. This marks a continuation of the party’s national campaign opposing Bulgaria’s transition to the euro, citing public sentiment and concerns over national sovereignty.
• In Sofia, the protests have also been directed toward the Bulgarian National Bank. On Wednesday (04 June), capital demonstration is organised under the message ‘Let’s preserve the Bulgarian lev,’ starting at 1200 hours (local time) and is anticipated to impact mobility and commercial activity in central areas.
