The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) reported a 5.5 magnitude earthquake off the east coast of Hachijojima Island on Friday (21 August).

• The earthquake was reported at approximately 2102 hours (local time) at a depth of 60 kilometres.
• Seismic intensity III was recorded in Miyake and Mikurashima Village of Tokyo Metropolis.
• No Tsunami warning has been issued as of this update.
