As per the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA), a magnitude 4.1 earthquake was reported off the east coast of Aomori Prefecture, at 1923 hours (local time) on Tuesday (19 May).

The earthquake occurred at a depth of 80 kilometers with seismic intensity 01 reported in Hachinohe town, Oirase town and several others across Aomori prefecture.
