As per the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA), a 4.2 magnitude earthquake was reported off the coast of Iwate Prefecture at 1351 hours (local time) on Thursday (30 July).

The earthquake occurred at a depth of 50 kilometers.

• Seismic intensity 02 was recorded in Otsuchi Town.
• Seismic intensity 01 was recorded in Ofunato City, Kamaishi City, Sumita Town, Yamada Town, Tono City, Ichinoseki City and Kesennuma City.
