Risk of Escalation: The war threatens to escalate into a wider regional conflict. Shipping in Red Sea is disturbed with ships rerouting, freight & insurance rising, exacerbating the global supply chain crisis.
Iranian-backed militias attacked US targets in Syria and Iraq, drawing US retaliation. In Israel’s north, Hezbollah has been active. On 02 Jan, it blamed Israel for killing a senior Hamas Leader in Beirut & responded with heavy barrages. In retaliation, Israel killed several Hezbollah commanders. A former US Ambassador said on CNN, ‘peace for peace’ or ‘economics for peace’ has not worked. “Two-state” & “land for peace” could be a viable solution.

The war has drawn international attention to Palestine, derailed Arab-Israel reproachment, led to hectic diplomatic parleys, global protests, a genocide case in ICJ and fear of regional instability.
