Description:
As per reports, Santiago Metro announced the temporary closure of the San Pablo and Neptuno stations on Line 1 on Friday (15 August), due to maintenance work on the tracks connecting the two stations.
The closure will affect the connection between lines 1 and 5 at San Pablo station, as access to Line 1 will be suspended.
• However, the Line 5 service will operate normally , allowing commuters to enter and exit.
• To facilitate travel in the affected area, the Metropolitan Public Transportation Department (DTPM) will implement a special bus service covering the stretch between San Pablo and Neptuno while the work continues.
Impact:
The closure may have an impact on alternate routes and modes of transportation; however, the bus service by DTPM is likely to mitigate much of the pressure.
Congestion can be anticipated as traffic is likely to be more than usual, in view of the weekend. Therefore, advised to cater for travel delays.
