Description:

As per reports, the Davao Light and Power Corporation, Inc. has announced scheduled power outages across various areas of Davao City on Thursday (07 August) to facilitate system maintenance, line clearing, and substation normalisation works of Ponciano Reyes Transformer-2.

• 45-minute power outages can be expected between 0100 hours and 0230 hours (local time) in areas of Mabini Street to parts of Circumferential Road, including Magallanes Street to Bacaca Road, Central Bank, Davao Doctors Hospital, Limso Hospital, Brokenshire Hospital, Jacinto Street (Union Bank area) to J. Luna Street, including J. Dela Cruz Street, Land Bank R. Magsaysay Branch to Bohol Trading and Obrero areas from Lacson Street to Cervantes Street, Nicacio Torres Street, Nidea Street, Sobrecarey Street, Loyola Street, and E. Jacinto Extension to Nissan Bajada.
• Five-hour power outage from 0130 hours till 0630 hours (local time) is expected in areas of PRU Life UK corner Guerrero Street and J. Luna Street, including portions of Suazo Street and Chavez Street.
• Additionally, a 45-minute outage can be expected between 0600 hours and 0700 hours (local time)in areas including Jacinto Street-UnionBank to J. Luna Street area, including J. Dela Cruz Street, and from Land Bank R. Magsaysay Branch to Bohol Trading.
• A nine-hour power outage from 0700 hours till 1600 hours is expected in areas Gumalang, Kibalang, and Lacson, Calinan. Areas affected are from Lacson, Calinan to Buda, Marilog, including Gumalang, Suawan, and Tamugan.

Background:

The power disruption is scheduled for the normalisation of Ponciano Reyes Transformer-2 and line maintenance.

Impact:

Businesses in affected areas may experience power supply interruptions, and may have to rely on backup power supply. The possibility of power outages extending beyond the stipulated time period cannot be ruled out.

Intermittent traffic signal outages and service disruptions may also occur in the listed zones.
