Description:
According to reports, heavy rainfall has caused flooding, waterlogging, and landslides in parts of Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh on Monday (04 August).
• Due to heavy rainfall flooding has been reported in Boongrailchowk, Sangalbara, Dhim Kataru, Lambathach, Chiuni, Thunag, Pakhrair, Murhag, Shikawari, Lehthach, Kandha-Bagsyad, Sharan, Bahlidhar, Shilhibagi, Bagachanogi, Bhatkidhar, Kalahani, Khablech, Jainshala, Bassi, Kuklah and Bakhli of Mandi district.
• Roads leading to Jhanjheli are closed due to landslides.
• Due to heavy rains in Devidahar, Jahal, Jachch, Karnala, Tunna and Shala, the water level of Juuni Khad is rising, raising concerns amongst locals.
• Authorities have advised residents of Gohar, Syanj, Nandi and Pandoh to exercise caution and move to safer locations.
• Authorities have also begun relief and rescue operations, but the challenges are increasing due to the intensity of the rain.
• On Tuesday (05 August), the Indian Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for very heavy rainfall in Kangra, Una and Bilaspur. Moreover, a yellow alert for heavy rainfall is active in Mandi, Hamirpurr, and Sirmaur.
Impact:
Local authorities are maintaining heightened vigilance over the evolving situation and may issue local directives or implement precautionary measures if adverse weather conditions persist. These directives would aim to safeguard public safety, manage potential disruptions, and coordinate timely response efforts in the region.
