Description:

As per reports, the United Front for Sovereignty group has gathered at Victory Monument, Bangkok, on Saturday (02 August), with demands to reclaim sovereignty from the falling government and support the frontline workers at the Thai-Cambodia border.

The event will continue until 2100 hours.

• A stage has been set up in the median of Victory Monument for leaders to deliver speeches.
• Donation points are also set up for collecting supplies and cash donations for frontline military personnel.
• Demonstrators brought national flags to show support to frontline officials working on the Thai-Cambodian border.
• A service lane has been set up, with steel barriers in one lane, to accommodate ambulances transporting patients, as there are several hospitals nearby.

Impact:

In view of the heavy footfall, authorities have advised to use the following alternate routes and avoid Victory Monument till 2100 hours –

• Phahonyothin Road, inbound: Turn into Soi Din Daeng 1 to exit onto Din Daeng Road, or make a U-turn in front of PTT Gas Station, Sanam Pao, onto Phahonyothin Road, outbound, Soi Phahonyothin 2, Soi Phahonyothin 5.
• Din Daeng Road, inbound: Turn left onto Ratchaprarot Road (Din Daeng Triangle Intersection) or turn left onto Soi Ratchawithi 3, right onto Soi Rang Nam.
• Phaya Thai Road, outbound: Turn left into Soi Yothi to Rama VI Road or turn left into Soi Yothi, right onto Soi Ratchawithi 15, left to Chai Building Intersection.
• In addition, tight security is being maintained in the arena.
• Alternate routes may witness congestion and slow traffic movement.

Recommendations:

Advised to have alternate routes mapped, carry all relevant identity proofs and car documents and cater for travel delays.
