As per reports, 10 departments in Colombia have been placed under a red alert on Wednesday (29 January), due to the increased risk of forest fires, driven by high temperatures.
The red alert is issued for Magdalena, Bolívar, Cesar, Chocó, Cundinamarca, Huila, La Guajira, Norte de Santander, Sucre, and Tolima.
• The National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (UNGRD) and the Institute of Hydrology, Meteorology, and Environmental Studies (IDEAM) issued the warning, which affects 216 municipalities.
• Additionally, 63 municipalities in various other departments are under orange alert.
• Orange alert is issued for Antioquia, Arauca, Atlántico, Boyacá, Córdoba, Meta, Nariño, Risaralda, Santander, Valle del Cauca and Vichada.
