As per reports, the electoral period for the upcoming presidential elections is set to commence this week, as outlined in the government’s approved calendar, with the appointment of the five judges on Thursday (12 September) who will serve on the Central Electoral Bureau (BEC).
• After the BEC president’s election, the Central Electoral Bureau will be fully constituted. This includes appointing the president and vice-presidents of the Permanent Electoral Authority and one representative from each parliamentary political party. By 13 October, representatives from non-parliamentary political formations that have proposed candidates will also be appointed.
• By 28 September the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is expected to notify the localities abroad where polling stations will be established, as well as the number of these stations.
• The deadline for submitting presidential candidacies is scheduled for 05 October. This includes applications from political parties, political alliances, electoral alliances, organizations of citizens belonging to national minorities, and independent candidates.
• The official list of candidacies and definitive electoral signs will be published on the Central Electoral Bureau’s website, at electoral office headquarters on 10 October.
• On 12 October, the final closing of candidacies and the order of candidates on the ballot will be established.
• The electoral campaign will commence on 25 October, with the first day of voting abroad scheduled for 22 November. The electoral campaign will conclude at 0700 hours (local time) on 23 November.
• The first round of voting is scheduled from 0700 hours to 2100 hours (local time) on 24 November.
• The names of the two candidates advancing to the second round will be released on 29 November.
• The electoral campaign for the second round will end on 07 December. Election Day for the second round of voting is chedudled on 08 December.
• The elections will be validated, and the results will be published on 12 December.
