As per initial reports, a campaign event of the Democratic Party in New York City (NYC) on the night of Wednesday (14 August) was allegedly disrupted by pro-Palestine protestors. The protestors gathered outside a restaurant in Harlem, where a dinner event after the campaign rally was taking place, and allegedly attempted to attack the event with smoke bombs, before being dispersed by the New York Police Department (NYPD). An official confirmation from authorities of the disruptive incident is awaited.
Prior to the incident, at least 300 pro-Palestine demonstrators also reportedly gathered at the barricaded streets on West 135th Street and Broadway, demonstrating with placards and sloganeering outside the campaign event.
