As per reports, Russian oil deliveries to Hungary have been halted due to Ukraine’s stricter sanctions on Lukoil. Previously, Lukoil supplied Hungary via the Druzhba pipeline’s southern leg through Ukraine. Despite the European Union not banning Russian crude imports via pipelines, the new Ukrainian sanctions prevent Lukoil from using Ukraine as a transit route for oil exports.

Hungary, led by Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who has sought closer ties with Russia, is now collaborating with Russian authorities to restore oil deliveries. Hungarian officials, including Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto, are working with Lukoil and Russian counterparts to find a legal solution to resume oil supplies, emphasizing the importance of Russian oil for Hungary’s energy security.
