Japan Meteorological Agency has issued red alert for heavy rainfall and flooding for Satsuma and Osumi region of Kagoshima on Friday (21 June).
• Heavy rainfall is also forecast for the prefectures of Miyazaki and Kagoshima, excluding the Amami region. Yellow alert for heavy rainfall has been issued for Miyazaki region for Friday (21 June).
• In the 24-hour period through Friday (21 June) evening, up to 250 millimetres of rainfall is forecast for southern Kyushu and 200 millimetres for northern Kyushu.
• Southern part of Kyushu, southwestern Japan, is experiencing heavy rainfall and is also on high alert for landslides and flooding, as per local authorities.
• Between 1700 hours (local time) and 1800 hours on Thursday (20 June), the town of Minamiosumi in Kagoshima had received around 30 millimetres of rainfall.
• As per the local authorities, due to continuous rainfall, the risk of flooding is extremely high in the Manose and Kaseda rivers and surrounding areas in Kagoshima Prefecture.
