The India Meteorology Department (IMD) has forecast very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall for Kerala from Wednesday (22 May) to Friday (24 May) due to conditions becoming favourable for the onset of the Southwest monsoon over Kerala.
• Wednesday (22 May): Orange alerts for very heavy rainfall have been issued in Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta, Kollam, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Idukki and Malappuram. Yellow alerts for heavy rainfall have been issued for the remaining districts of the state.
• Thursday (23 May): Red alerts for extremely heavy rainfall have been issued for Idukki and Pathanamthitta. Orange alerts for very heavy rainfall have been issued in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad and Malappuram. Yellow alerts for heavy rainfall have been issued for the remaining districts of the state.
• Friday (24 May): Red alerts for extremely heavy rainfall have been issued for Idukki and Palakkad. Orange alerts for very heavy rainfall have been issued in Kozhikode, Wayanad, Malappuram, Thrissur, and Ernakulam. Yellow alerts for heavy rainfall have been issued for the remaining districts of the state.
