𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐚𝐦 𝐓𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐬: The “Ram Mandir” in Ayodhya opened today with PM Narendra Modi performing the consecration rituals and “Ram Lalla” idol coming to life at “Pran Pratishtha” ceremony. Amidst high security, Modi addressed a gathering of >7,000 people, including high priests, politicians, industrialists, actors, sports stars, diplomats & judges. There was also a huge number of national and international audience watching the Ram Mandir Live Broadcast. The shrine will be opened to public tomorrow. Most opposition leaders did not attend the ceremony.
“𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐋𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐑𝐚𝐦 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐝,” said PM Modi, hailing centuries of sacrifice, and apologising to Lord Ram for 500 years delay in building temple. This is a divine moment – the dawn of a new era. We have broken the shackles of slavery. Bharat is rising & scripting new history. Calling it a humbling moment, the PM said, “Ram Mandir is for peace, patience & goodwill.” The PM laid out Ram Rajya roadmap, saying future will be more beautiful than the past.
Recalling India’s civilizational glory and recent achievements from the Ram Mandir Live, he exhorted the youth to script a new & glorious chapter. Ram’s ideals will awaken our collective consciousness; we will rise. Ram is not the fire, but the energy; Ram is not the problem, but the solution. From Ram to Rashtra (Nation), Dev (God) to Desh (Country) was the PM’s message.
The Ram Mandir Live ceremony was being held after the first phase of the temple’s construction, made possible by a Supreme Court judgment in 2019 on Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title suit. The Hindu litigants argued that the Babri Mosque was constructed at the site of a temple marking the birthplace of Lord Ram. In 1992, the 16th century mosque was demolished by “kar sevaks”. PM Modi thanked the judiciary.

Jewellers are reporting robust sales of Temple coins & statues. The inauguration will have a “multiplier effect”, and will set a template for “infra-driven growth for tourism.” UP Government’s Ayodhya Masterplan 2031 envisions an investment of over $10 billion for makeover of infra & tourism facilities. A new 1,000 acre river-centric, sustainable township – blending traditional & modern architecture – is being developed.
Experts predict Ayodhya could become a major spiritual tourism attraction like the Vatican City or the Mecca and may have an effect on upcoming 2024 elections.
