What: The Cyberabad Police Commissioner has enforced prohibitory measures, as per Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), within the jurisdiction of the Malika police station on the outskirts of Hyderabad, effective until 21 February.
Reason behind section 144 in Hyderabad: Clashes were reported between members of Christian and Hindu communities following a dispute over road widening near a place of worship at Janwada village, located near the outskirts of Hyderabad. The pelting of stones and damage to the place of worship was reported. 16 people were injured. The Commissioner stated that the prohibitory orders were imposed to prevent danger to human life and safety, prevent disturbance of public tranquility, and prevent the occurrence of riot or obstruction to any person in his lawful discharge of duty.
