Anti-Trump Actions Organized Across the United States

Locations Affected: United States

The United States (US) is witnessing a nationwide movement against President Donald Trump, due to dissent over domestic policies. The demonstrations are spearheaded by a nationwide coalition of civil rights organizations, veterans, women’s rights groups, labour unions, and LGBTQ+ advocates, raising concerns over mass layoffs in federal workforce, abortion restrictions, trade tariffs, immigration policies and cuts to public aid programs. The protests also target businessman Elon Musk who has become a significant part of the Trump administration and influences major decisions.

On 05 April, over 1,400 protests under the banner ‘Hands Off!’ were reported across all 50 states with over 600,000 estimated participants gathering at state capitols, federal buildings, congressional offices, Social Security headquarters, parks, and city halls in major cities including Atlanta, Boston, Los Angeles, Cincinnati, and New York. Additionally, solidarity protests were reported internationally in Mexico, Canada, and several European countries where participants voiced opposition to the Trump administration’s policies, including newly imposed tariffs on US trade partners that led to a stock market crash globally.

Widespread anti-Trump protests across the US are likely to disrupt business continuity, particularly in urban centres and government districts. Key risks include:

  • Operational delays due to road blockages and restricted access near protest sites.
  • Security concerns for personnel, especially near federal buildings and corporate offices.
  • Market volatility stemming from policy backlash and global reactions to US trade decisions.

Future Protests Planned

More protests are planned throughout the coming week, with a second major nationwide demonstration scheduled for 19 April. Smaller protests against both Trump and Elon Musk are also anticipated.

Protests Planned in the Upcoming Week:

  • 10 April: College Station, Texas
  • 12 April: Little Rock, Arkansas
  • 12 April: Florence, Kentucky
  • 12 April: Paducah, Kentucky
  • 12 April: Owensboro, Kentucky

Authorities expect large-scale demonstrations to cause travel disruptions and impose restrictions on public movement in affected areas. Businesses should monitor developments, reassess site-level risk exposure, and ensure crisis communication protocols are in place.
