As per reports, Environment and Climate Change Canada issued a yellow snowfall warning for the Nipigon-Rossport region along the north shore of Lake Superior on (16 January).
• Lake-enhanced snowfall is expected to intensify overnight, with local snowfall accumulations of 10 to 15 centimeters forecast for areas between Thunder Bay and Marathon, particularly affecting the Nipigon-Rossport corridor along Highway 17 (Trans-Canada Highway) on (16 January).
• Highway 17 (Trans-Canada Highway) is currently closed in both directions between Nipigon and Marathon due to winter weather conditions, poor visibility, and rapidly deteriorating road conditions. Travel delays are significant and road closures may expand as conditions worsen.
• Current meteorological conditions at Cameron Falls indicate falling barometric pressure and increasing moisture, with conditions primed for snow development and intensification overnight.
