The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has placed the Visayas power grid under a Yellow Alert on Wednesday (08 July) till 2300 hours (local time) after electricity demand continued to outpace available generating capacity.
• However, the NGCP lifted the Red Alert status for the Visayas Grid at approximately 2003 hours (local time) after available generation capacity improved.
• Although system conditions have improved, reserve margins remain below contingency requirements, and localized power interruptions throughout the night cannot be entirely ruled out if generation capacity declines or electricity demand increases.
