The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued yellow alerts for parts of Karnataka on Friday (25 October). The affected districts include Mandhya, Mysuru and Chamarajanagar.
No yellow alerts have been issued for Bengaluru, however, the Nowcast has issued a yellow alert forecast which will remain in effect until 1000 hours.
• Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar held a meeting with officials of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and gave instructions to deal with the issue of flooding in the city.
• The instructions include connecting lakes, banning construction within a 50-foot radius of storm drain waters, construction of of 300 kilometers of roads along drains, surveying and demolition of unauthorized buildings.
• Concerns of water-borne diseases were raised amid heavy flooding and testing of the quality of drinking water in the affected areas are underway by the BBMP, especially in RR Nagar, Mahadevapura, Yelahanka and Bommanahalli.
