As per reports, the Uruguayan institute of meteorology issued a Yellow Alert for severe storms across parts of Uruguay on Wednesday (05 August) the alert came into effect at 0655 hours local time (0955 UTC), with the next official update scheduled for 0900 hours local time (1200 UTC).
• Reports indicate that the alert applies to locations across the departments of Durazno, Flores, Florida, Paysandú, Río Negro, Salto, and Tacuarembó.
• Reports indicate that the affected areas are expected to experience locally severe thunderstorms, accompanied by heavy rainfall within short periods, hail, intense electrical activity, and very strong wind gusts.
• According to forecasts, rainfall and thunderstorm activity are likely to continue during the morning, afternoon, and evening hours across much of Uruguay.
