As per reports, the Uruguayan institute of meteorology (Inumet) warned of very strong and locally severe storms across various regions such as Montevideo, Canelones, Maldonado, Rocha, Colonia, Soriano, Río Negro, Paysandú, Salto, Tacuarembó, Durazno, and other parts of Uruguay on Thursday (06 August).
• Reports indicate that a cold front is forecast to enter Uruguay during the morning hours of Thursday (06 August), initially affecting the western, central, and northern regions before spreading across the national territory.
• Forecasts suggest that an intensifying extratropical cyclone over the eastern coastal region may result in strong and very strong persistent winds, particularly south of the Río Negro and along coastal areas.
• According to Inumet, rainfall accumulations of 60-80 mm are forecast in affected areas, with higher amounts possible in isolated locations.
• Authorities indicated that a cold front is expected to move across the country, initially affecting the western, central, and northern regions before spreading nationwide, bringing heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, hail, strong winds, and hazardous coastal conditions
