• As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a yellow alert has been issued across all districts of Delhi on Wednesday (31 January) for fog, thunderstorms, and lightning. No warning is currently activated for Thursday (01 February).
• On Tuesday (30 January) morning, dense fog was reported by Delhi’s Palam and Safdarjung weather stations, severely impacting visibility, which reduced to 50 meters at 0530 hours. Two flights were diverted to Jaipur between 0230-0530, while a total of 82 flights were delayed and five were cancelled on arrival through the day. The departures of 222 flights and cancellation of nine were also reported through the day. At least 10 trains travelling through or originating from Delhi were also delayed.
• Dense fog has been reported in the early hours of Wednesday (31 January). Visibility at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport (DEL) was less than 50 meters at approximately 0130 hours. The minimum temperature is anticipated to rise from 8.7 degrees Celsius on Tuesday (30 January) to approximately 10.0 degrees Celsius on Wednesday (31 January).
• According to reports, January 2024 has been the coldest January in the last 13 years in Delhi, with the city recording an average minimum temperature of 6.2 degrees Celsius.
