Yellow alert activated for low temperatures and strong winds in Mexico City for Saturday (28 February)

As per reports, the Secretariat of Comprehensive Risk Management and Civil Protection (SGIRPC) has activated Yellow Alerts across parts of Mexico City due to forecast low temperatures and strong wind conditions for Saturday (28 February).

• The alert is expected to primarily affect the municipalities of Milpa Alta and Tlalpan, where temperatures are expected to range between four degrees Celsius and six degrees Celsius between 0100 hours local time (0700 hours UTC) and 0800 hours local time (1400 hours UTC) on Saturday (28 February).
• Additionally, strong wind gusts of approximately 50 kilometers per hours to 59 kilometers per hours may be expected across several boroughs, including Álvaro Obregón, Benito Juárez, Coyoacán, Cuauhtémoc, Iztapalapa, and Miguel Hidalgo, particularly between 1300 hours local time (1900 hours UTC) on Saturday (28 February) and 1900 hours local time (0100 hours UTC on 01 March) on Saturday (28 February).
• Reports indicate that the authorities are expected to implement precautionary monitoring measures and safety advisories to mitigate risks associated with cold exposure, falling debris, and environmental hazards. Municipal agencies and emergency services may remain on standby to respond to any weather-related incidents.
