As per reports, trade unions in Athens have announced a four-hour work stoppage and rally at Syntagma Square on Friday (13 February) in protest against a proposed collective bargaining agreement bill, which unions say undermines collective labour rights and is scheduled to be voted on in Parliament the same day.

• The action includes a work stoppage from 1200 hours to 1600 hours local time (1000 hours to 1400 hours UTC) and a rally at Syntagma Square at 1300 hours local time (1100 hours UTC). The mobilisation was decided during a congress of the Athens Labor Center, following a proposal by the Democratic Trade Union Movement (DAS).
• Unions have also announced that the rally is expected to expand into a larger gathering later in the afternoon to welcome farmers demonstrating with tractors from across Greece. The farmers’ mobilisation is expected to reach central Athens at 1600 hours local time (1400 hours UTC), turning the event into a joint demonstration.
