As per reports, student associations in Athens organised a protest and encampment at Syntagma Square, outside the Hellenic Parliament, on Tuesday (13 October), with a gathering scheduled for 1800 hours local time (1500 hours UTC). Students erected tents to protest rising student accommodation and education costs and planned to remain at the site overnight despite continuous rainfall in the Attica region.
Reports indicate that tensions occurred when students attempted to display a large banner in front of Parliament. Police personnel reportedly positioned themselves in front of the demonstrators, preventing them from moving forward. The protest also included a concert featuring artists and bands from different musical fields.
