Winter storm alert issued for parts of Philadelphia on Tuesday (02 December)

As per reports, a winter storm is expected to begin in the early hours of Tuesday (02 December) across the Philadelphia metropolitan area and surrounding regions, including Delaware County, Montgomery County, Bucks County, Chester County, South Jersey and the Lehigh Valley.

• Initial snowfall is forecast during the early morning for areas including Philadelphia, Delaware County and Montgomery County.
• By approximately 0600 hours local time (1100 hours UTC), many of those areas including Philadelphia, Upper Darby, Norristown, Doylestown, West Chester, Camden, and Wilmington are forecast to see a transition to a wintry mix of rainfall and snowfall as temperatures rise slightly.
• Heavy rainfall is expected for Philadelphia, continuing into midday before tapering off by around 1400 hours local time (1900 hours UTC).
• In colder zones such as the Lehigh Valley, temperatures are forecast to remain below freezing on Tuesday (02 December), allowing snow to persist through the day, with an estimated accumulation of one to three inches.
• The western and northern mountainous or higher-elevation areas, such as the Pocono Mountains, are likely to receive heavier snowfall on Tuesday (02 December), with totals estimated between three to five inches, possibly reaching six inches at higher elevations in locations including Stroudsburg, Mount Pocono, Tobyhanna, and Lake Harmony.
