As per reports, a wildfire broke out on Friday morning (24 January) in the river belt of Tawang Chu River, threatening Sagkyur village and nearby areas in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tawang district.
• The fire erupted between 1000 and 1030 hours, quickly spreading due to strong winds and dry conditions. However, timely intervention by authorities helped in successfully containing the fire, preventing potential loss of lives and property.
• Although the fire has been controlled near the village, it continues to burn in the jungle due to the challenging terrain. Officers from the Indian Army, State Police, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Border Roads Organisation (BRO) and the Forest Department are actively monitoring the situation and working to bring the fire under control.
